Directions By Car

From the M4, exit at J32 and join the A470 north towards Merthyr Tydfil and Pontypridd. After about 6 miles, you will see signs for the A473 (Llantrisant) and the University of South Wales. Take the first exit off the roundabout, across the bridge. Turn left, then stay left, following the signs up the hill to the University.

If you’re approaching the University south-bound from the A470, follow the A470 to Pontypridd and take the A4223 exit toward Pontypridd. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A470/A4058 ramp and stay in the right-hand lane taking the 3rd exit (A4058) at the next roundabout before turning left onto the Broadway/A473. Stay on the A473 following signs up to the University.

The visitors car park is located opposite the main campus. If you are approaching the University from the A470 turn left at the mini roundabout at the main campus. The postcode is CF37 1DL.

Take the second exit off the roundabout and at the traffic lights, turn right onto Cemetery Road. The Gatehouse and Main Reception is on your right before the mini roundabout. Trains to Treforest run regularly from Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street stations, with typical journey times of 20 minutes. The Glyntaff campus is a ten-minute walk from Treforest station.

Cardiff International Airport is 11 miles from the city centre and is serviced by regular bus and rail links. London’s Heathrow airport is about two-and-a-half hour drive away and there is also an airport at Bristol.

Newport is only two hours away from London via the M4, while other motorways and dual carriageways connect Newport with the North, Midlands, South East and South West England and West Wales. Both campuses are signposted from the M4. There are a number of council-owned multi-storey car parks situated around the City Campus. The postcode is NP20 2BP.

By train
If travelling by rail, the City Campus is approximately 5 – 10 minutes walk away from the train station. There are excellent Intercity services to Newport from all major cities. London is one hour and forty minutes away and Birmingham two hours by high speed trains which operate hourly. For those travelling to the City Campus by foot directions are available which takes approximately 10 – 15 minutes.

Newport is served by regular National Express Coaches from London, West Wales, the North, Midlands and South West England. There is also a direct service from Heathrow, Gatwick and Bristol Airports.

The campus is served by Newport Bus routes. Bus numbers and their stops for the City Campus can be found in our downloadable map. If you are travelling to Caerleon from the Newport Central Bus Station, take the number 28 bus from stand 25.

The University has teamed up with Newport Transport to offer the Unigo bus service, which is a cost effective and reliable way for students to travel between campuses as well as in and around the surrounding areas of Newport.

From junctions 29, 32 or 33 of the M4. There is a large car park opposite the Atrium Building on Adam Street, alternative parking can be found at Knox Road. You need to turn left off Fitzalan Place to reach Knox Road Car Park if you are coming from the Atrium building. The postcode is CF24 2FN.

Directions from J33 of the M4
Leave the M4 at J33. Head south, signposted Cardiff Bay on the A4232. Continue for approx 5 miles, cross the bridge over Cardiff Bay, and continue through the Butetown Tunnel. Turn left at the roundabout, and then continue across the following roundabout, onto the A4234 dual carriageway, signposted City Centre (you will see the Atlantic Wharf on your right). Continue until the end, then turn left onto the A4160, ATRiuM is on your right.

Directions from J32 of the of the M4
Leave the M4 from J32. Head south on the A470, signposted Cardiff City Centre. Continue on the A470 (North Road) until you reach the City Centre. As you approach a set of lights (Cardiff University is on your left and a long car park on your right turn left onto the Boulevard De Nantes past City Hall on your left.

Stay on this road and drive under the railway bridge at the next set of traffic lights you will need to to turn right into Fitzalan Place. Cross the first set of traffic lights and bear right at the next set (You should see the Fire Station on your left). Cross the next set of traffic lights and ATRiuM is on your right.

Directions from J29 of the M4
Leave the M4 from J29. Turn left onto the A48 signposted M4 Cardiff, (Caerdydd). After approx 4 miles, take the turning signposted Docks and Cardiff East. Then at roundabout take the 1st exit onto Southern Way – A4161 (signposted Docks, Cardiff East). Keep left, signposted City Centre then at roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Newport Road – A4161 (signposted City Centre) Continue on Newport Road for approx 1.5 miles. Turn left into Fitzalan Place (next left after the Holland House Hotel), signposted Penarth. Go straight on at a set of signals, then bear right onto Adam Street. The fire station will be on your left. Continue through another set of signals. ATRiuM is on the right.

The London Centre is based at the Docklands Academy, London located just a short distance from Canary Wharf. Travelling by car it can be reached from the A12/A102 (if approaching from the North), A13/A1261 (if approaching from the East) and A1203/A1206 (if approaching from the West). The postcode is E14 9GL.

From Canary Wharf, follow Bank Street and Heron Quays Rd and turn left onto Marsh Wall. Drive along Marsh wall and turn right onto Limeharbour. Then continue straight into East Ferry Road and turn onto Selsdon Way. Take the first left and continue along Selsdon Way.

By tube/DLR

The London Centre is just two minutes walk from Crossharbour station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), or a 15 minute walk from Canary Wharf Tube station on the Jubilee line.
