Accommodation Allocations

Accommodation Allocation

Are you still waiting to hear whether you’ve got a place in our Halls of Residence? You can only be allocated a room once you have gained an ‘Unconditional Firm (UF)’ status on your application, in addition to a valid visa application for international students.

Accommodation

Treforest Halls of Residence (on-campus)

Rooms will be allocated to UF applicants on the following dates. You will be informed the same day.

  • 1st August 2017
  • 17th August 2017 (A-Level results day)
  • 25th August 2017
  • On an ad-hoc basis thereafter, depending on availability.

You will be informed by e-mail and will be expected to respond by the date stated in your contract offer.

Allocating Rooms

  • Students who apply for accommodation before 30th June will be allocated first.
  • We only allocate you a room after your course offer changes to Unconditional Firm (UF)
  • Rooms are not allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority is not given to the date and time of application.
  • We allocate rooms according to course offer status, room type preference and group gender preference.  The order in which rooms are allocated is randomly generated by our accommodation database.
  • We will try and meet your room type preferences but in many cases this is not possible.    Room allocation always depends upon the popularity of accommodation types and the number of applicants.   Mountain halls rooms for example, are very popular and the number of applications is always higher than the number of available rooms.
  • Late applicants (applications submitted after 30th June) will only be allocated a room if there are any still available.
  • We are unable to guarantee that all applicants will receive an offer of halls accommodation.  However, in the last three academic years all applicants that applied before the 30th June deadline were made offers of accommodation. Rooms will be allocated on the basis of availability.  Some room types are in much higher demand than others (i.e. Mountain Halls rooms), where we have reached capacity at the time of allocation you may be offered an alternative.   Whilst we will try to meet your preferences we cannot guarantee them.  In the event that the demand for rooms exceed the number of rooms available we cannot guarantee that all applicants will receive an offer of a place in halls of residence.

Delays affecting your accommodation offer

If there is a delay to your course offer becoming Unconditional Firm it is likely to affect your chances of being allocated your preferred room. Delays can include things like not achieving your offer grades and going through the appeal process.

Accepting the room offer

The offer email will contain a link to the online portal and log-in information.    It will also contain instructions on how to accept or reject the offer.    You must ensure you accept the offer by the reply by date stated in the offer email.

Rejecting the room offer

You do not have to accept our offer of accommodation.    If you reject it, we may not be able to make you another offer unless there are special circumstances that we were unaware of at the time of allocation.    Your next step may then be to find private accommodation.

Reviewing this procedure

We try to take on board feedback from applicants and operate as fairly as possible.
