How to Apply for Treforest Halls of Residence (Allocation Policy)

When can I apply for student accommodation?

When you have accepted your course offer on a firm basis with the University of South Wales your details will have already been passed onto Accommodation Services. You will be sent an email with a user name and password to submit your preferences online. Please note that the email will be sent to the address you provided with your UCAS or direct application, (keep an eye on your junk mail folder for emails from hallsapplications@southwales.ac.uk).

I changed my mind, can I change my preferences?

You can log back in at any time before 30th June 2017 to amend your preferences if you wish or you can call Accommodation on 01443 482044 and we can update them for you.

I am a Welsh speaker, can I live with other Welsh speakers?

If you would prefer to be allocated a room with other Welsh speakers, please indicate this on your application form and we will do our best to accommodate you. Please note that while we will do our best to meet your preferences this is not always possible.

I am an international student, is the application different for me?

If you are an International student you will only be allocated when you have both an Unconditional Firm offer and you have used your CAS to apply for a visa, you must email to notify us when you have applied for a visa. We will not allocate any international students without this.

When will I hear that I have a room?

As long as you are eligible you will be allocated a room and emailed an offer on any one of the allocation dates for the coming academic year:

1st Allocation – 1st August 2017;
2nd Allocation  - 17th August 2017 (A-Level results day);
3rd Allocation – 25th August 2017.

Subsequent allocations will be made on an ad-hoc basis dependent on availability, if you have not been allocated a room you will receive a letter via email which notifies you of the alternative options available to you.

Will I get my first choice?

Please be aware that we are not able to guarantee all applicants a room in on campus accommodation, nor that we will meet your room preferences (Note: there are some room types in much higher demand than others such as Mountain Halls for example).

I have been offered a room, what do I do now?

You must accept or decline the contract before the reply by date stated on your accommodation offer letter. If you wish to accept it you will be required to log on to the online payment website (link provided in your offer email) and make the £200 pre-payment using a credit or debit card. International students are also required to pay for the full years halls fees. (Full details on the payment options available will be supplied with the contract). If you fail to respond to the offer before the reply by date, we reserve the right to automatically withdraw the offer without further communication.

I have just accepted my offer, what do I do now?

If you have paid the £200 pre-payment only you will need to set up an instalment plan (recurring card payment plan) to spread the cost of your fees throughout the academic year (UK/EU students). We will send out email reminders in late August with a link to set up your payment plan.

What happens if I miss my offer deadline?

If you fail to pay the pre-payment by the reply by date stated on your offer letter (usually 7 days after the issue date), your offer will be automatically declined and your room in halls of residence will be offered to another student. Please note due to the high demand for rooms on campus, Accommodation Services will not offer any flexibility on the 7 day acceptance rule. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure you accept the room on time.   Late offers may have a shorter turnaround time so it is important that you check your reply by date.

When can I move into my room?

Please check this website for information on arriving at your accommodation.
