Students: Get InvolvedThe Business Clinic is part of the new initiative ‘USW Exchange’ aiming to develop the relationship between academia and industry. It enables USW students to have the personal skills, awareness and discipline essential in the workplace.

The USW Business Clinic is an education scheme whereby a group of students participate in a ‘consultancy firm’ to provide advice for our clients. The service is offered for all types of companies from SME’s, multi-national and through to not for profit organisations. Students get to the root of the problem, which results in a detailed report and presentation of their recommendations.


The Business Clinic is able to provide support in the following areas:

  •          Logistical review and recommendations
  •          Human resources audit and recommendations
  •          Feasibility studies and on strategic decisions or expansion
  •          Digital marketing and social media audits
  •          Strategic marketing reviews

About the role of Trainee Consultant:

Through conducting and analysing research, Trainee Consultants make recommendations to organisations to help them improve their business performance for example in terms of operations, profitability, management, structure or strategy.

General responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research, surveys and interviews to gain understanding of the business
  • Analysing statistics
  • Detecting issues and investigating ways to resolve them
  • Assessing the pros and cons of possible strategies
  • Compiling and presenting information orally, visually and in writing
  • Making recommendations for improvement and presenting findings to client
