BA (Hons) Business Studies (Top Up)

Specifically designed for students who have already obtained a HND or equivalent qualification, this Business Studies degree allows you to gain a full bachelor degree in less than year.

On the BA (Hons) Business Studies (Top Up) course you will examine business strategy and organisational learning and development. You can then tailor your studies to meet your career goals by completing a research project and choosing from a selection of optional modules, which will include the specialist areas from your HND.

During this one year Business Studies course you will examine core aspects of business such as business strategy and communication, whilst also getting the chance to conduct a real investigation into a business problem that allows you to apply your business acumen to a real life scenario.

Teaching

There are some traditional lectures, but the majority of your learning will rely on interactive seminars, supported by online study materials. We also arrange an induction programme, so you can get to know your tutors and other students before you start studying and hit the ground running on the first day of term. You will use the latest real-life data and case studies to help you learn, making your studies as relevant as possible to what you will experience in the workplace.

Assessment

You will usually have to complete coursework as you progress, and normally sit exams at the end of each academic year.

Successful completion of a HND or equivalent qualification i.e. Foundation Degree

Full-time fees are per year. Part-time fees are per 20 credits. Once enrolled, the fee will remain at the same rate throughout the duration of your study on this course.

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the University’s library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed below. Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. All stationery and printing costs are at a student’s own expense.

Topping up a HND qualification or equivalent provides you with a great base to pursue a career in business whilst also having the opportunity to gain access to various professional bodies in business.
