In a rapidly changing business environment, employers are looking for people who have their finger on the pulse and can easily find solutions to an array of problems. Our industry-led HND Business Studies course provides you with the tools to achieve this, and will give you the knowledge to manage a successful business or organisation.
The HND Business Studies course will develop key transferable skills including strategic thinking, problem solving, managing tasks, and applying design and creativity. Our mix of theory and practice enables you to apply what you learn to real world situations, enhancing your employment prospects. Studying an HND differs from a foundation degree because it does not include a work-based learning module. This means that you don’t need to undertake a work placement, work experience, or be in employment to study this course. Course content is driven towards improving your employment prospects after graduation.
The HND Business Studies course structure is ‘modular’ in format and comprises the following modules:
First year modules offer breadth in order to build a solid foundation.
The second year is more specialised and there are a limited number of options to suit the preferences of students. You will study 120 credits from the following modules:
The HND Business Studies course has a balance between theory and practice and is delivered on a full-time basis with around 12 hours of lessons per week although students are expected to engage in individual study outside of the teaching hours. A guideline figure is around 3-4 hours individual study to each 1 hour lesson. The University has an excellent record in terms of student support and there are supporting mechanisms provided by the University of South Wales that augment the student experience.
You will usually have to complete portfolios, presentations and coursework as you progress, and normally sit exams at the end of each academic year.
