You will be taught by academic staff with extensive practical and academic knowledge, in a department rated ‘excellent’ for teaching quality. The professional experience of staff ranges from working for smaller organisations to the ‘Big Four’ accounting and professional services firms.

The MSc Accounting course is delivered full-time through a combination of lectures, tutorials, computer workshops, case study analysis and discussion groups. You will be exposed to real-life situations and given the skills and opportunities to find practical solutions. Assessment methods include examinations and coursework-based assignments.

A minimum 2:2 Honours degree in accounting or business degree with strong accounting content.
Holders of recognised professional accounting qualifications may be entitled to significant exemptions.
Equivalent accredited international or professional qualifications may also be acceptable.
Students wishing to take ACCA examinations alongside the MSc will also need to be ACCA registered students.
This course is eligible under the Enhanced Learning Credits scheme for Ex-Armed Forces personnel.
Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the University’s library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed below. Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. Employment opportunities are numerous, including firms of accountants in the finance departments of commercial organisations, and also the public and not-for-profit sectors. Many MSc Accounting graduates go on to work as practising accountants in roles such as financial managers, controllers, consultants or internal auditors.
