University of South Wales Senior Lecturer Recognised at Nurse of the Year Awards

Nurse of the year awards caroline whittaker

Senior Lecturer, Caroline Whittaker was nominated for the Nurse Education Award at the Royal College of Nursing in Wales – Nurse of the Year Awards. Caroline is a Senior Lecturer and Academic Manager at the University of South Wales. She is an Occupational Health Nurse and now works in education to ensure that we have well trained Occupational Health Nurses for the future.

Caroline is passionate about the provision of health care education and is credited with developing and validating the Diploma of Occupational Health for Nurses at the University of South Wales. Recognising the lack of funding for educational programmes for occupational health nurses, Caroline has raised the profile by introducing an annual occupational health conference. The conference raised funds to provide educational bursaries for those working in occupational health. Delegates for this prestigious event have doubled in the past four years.

Speaking at the awards ceremony she said;

“I felt very proud to be nominated especially as I work with some fantastic educators who often get little recognition. I think this award has raised the profile of occupational health nursing and technician education which I am so pleased about.”
