Counselling student, Lynn Rees has been selected to represent Wales at the FIHMasters Hockey World Cup 2014. Lynn will play for her country in the Women’s Over 50s team, in Rotterdam this June.

The FIH Masters Hockey World Cup is a tournament for national teams. Nineteen countries have entered this year; Wales are sending around 100 men and women to The Netherlands to play in various heats across age groups.

Lynn, who normally plays for Whitchurch Saints hockey club, has just completed the Certificate in Counselling Skills at Caerleon campus and has applied to carry on to the diploma course. After a hiatus, she returned to playing Hockey in 1990 and this is now her ninth year in masters hockey but this will be her first World Cup event.

Lynn said “I am delighted to be selected to represent Wales. My team is playing six matches in seven days, so it’s going to be hard work but also good fun. It’s non-stop though as not long after our return, we’ll also be playing in the Home Nations tournament at the end of June”.
