New public art exhibition at University of South Wales

Art exhbition

Migration and immigration are just some of the themes MA Arts Practice students will be showcasing at a new art exhibition at the University of South Wales.

The exhibition will open to the public from Saturday 19 September to Wednesday 23 September and will exhibit final major projects from two of the University’s postgraduate art courses - MA Arts Practice (Fine Art) and MA Arts Practice (Art, Health and Wellbeing).

Students were asked to produce a body of creative practice and research relevant to their concerns which in this diverse showcase reflects the self-direction and independence each of the ten students had when creating their projects.

Some students have created work in response to environments they inhabit, visit and observe, whilst others consider social, cultural and political issues. This includes migrants and immigration, gender and power relations, as well as isolation, asking us to reach out and connect with ‘invisible’ people.

Performance, public interaction and participation are key elements of some pieces, as well as the use of film, painting and mixed media.

The exhibition will be held in K Block, Treforest, Pontypridd Campus from Saturday 19 September to Wednesday 23 September (10am to 4pm daily).
