The managing director of GE Aviation Wales has received an honorary degree from the University of South Wales.

La Chun Lindsay, who took up her role at the Nantgarw-based facility in 2015, was presented with the award during the University’s graduation ceremonies at the Treforest Campus.

Originally from South Carolina, La Chun graduated in 1995 in Ceramic Engineering and joined GE Quartz in 1997, before moving to Wales in 2015.

Previous to becoming Managing Director, she led the assembly, test and overhaul division at GE Aviation’s Lynn site in the US.

La Chun said: “Attending university enables people to transform their dreams into reality.

“It not only enables people to develop their careers through education, it exposes students to a diverse, cultural and social environment.

“I would like to congratulate each and every student graduating today. It is a fantastic achievement which both you and your families should be very proud of.”
