THE chief executive of universities admission service UCAS is giving a speech at a major event in Cardiff next week.

Mary Cunnock Cook will talk at the 10th Annual Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference, which is organised by the University of South Wales (USW) and will be held at its Cardiff Campus on January 26 and 27.

Also speaking at the event will be Will Hahn, of the Creative and Cultural Skills Academy, who will focus on ‘Creativity Vs Robots’.

The conference will also feature workshops on a wide range of subjects which will interest teachers and advisers who are supporting those planning to study at university.

These include student finance, writing references, interviews, social engineering, computer animation, mathematics, advertising design, and studying abroad.

“In the busy lives of teaching and careers professionals, finding space and time to reflect and consider new ideas and initiatives can be challenging,” said Sarah Watkins, USW 's UK Student Recruitment Manager.

“Our annual conference - based in our enhanced Cardiff Campus, which is home to our creative industries courses – will equip you with the most current information, developments and techniques.

“From online university comparison tools, to the essential skills required for careers of the future, USW Schools and Colleges Liaison team, supported by high profile industry professionals, will deliver a diverse range of thought-provoking sessions and workshops.”
