Photography has been taught at the University’s campuses for over one hundred years and remains at the cutting edge of developments in the subject. With a national and international reputation, the University’s Cardiff and Newport campuses offer a range of courses at academic levels from Foundation (A&D) to PhD.
The continued success of photography graduates entering a significant career in the workplace is widely acknowledged by the industry – the substantial reputations of the University’s photography lecturers, practitioners and researchers is widely recognised in world of photography and the associated creative and cultural industries.
Specific programmes include the renowned BA (Hons) Documentary Photography course along with BA (Hons) Photographic Art and BA (Hons) Photography for Fashion and Advertising that are available at Newport campuses. Whilst the ATRiuM at our Cardiff campus offers both BA (Hons) Photography and BA (Hons) Photojournalism.

Careers in Photography
Career opportunities in Photography are available in wide range of forms. Film and photography graduates enter technical, operational and creative areas, as well as taking on roles in support functions. Popular employers include large broadcasters such as the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky, websites, independent film production companies, advertising and marketing agencies and even public sector organisations such as Universities.
Self-employment is another option, with graduates taking on photographic jobs alongside other employment with the aim of developing a portfolio of clients.
