Road safety app that will keep children safer

In this video, Dr Catherine Purcell talks about a road safety educational game developed at USW that is set to be rolled out to all primary schools in Wales.

"The app, which uses uses similar technology to Pokemon GO, aims to teach children to identify when it’s safe to cross the road and when it’s not," said Dr Purcell.

Dr Catherine Purcell, who is a specialist in psychology, and games design expert Dr Mike Reddy are working on the project after being awarded £67,500 from the Road Safety Trust (RST).

"I've been doing research in this field for over ten years. It's great to see all that research come together in a project that will have some benefit within the real world."
