Name: Alexandra ‘Ali’ Rhian Roberts
Role: Collaboration, Recruitment and
- University of South Wales
College remit: Cardiff and Vale College, Bridgend College and Crosskeys and Newport campuses for Coleg Gwent.
What you can offer to students and staff:
I am able to offer support to partner college staff and
students in a number of ways, from individual advice and guidance on the
availability of higher education (HE) provision, through to group talks on the
benefits of higher education in general. My role is responsive and adaptable. I
am keen to engage with level three learners who may benefit from the
alternative higher education offer available to them as well as meeting with
and developing relationships with level three tutors who wish to learn more
about the HE offer.
As well as supporting level three students and supporting staff to make initial HE choices, I also work closely with current HE students studying USW provision at the colleges, to support them during their studies, advise them of top-up degree options at USW campuses, as well as supporting them with finance queries and the application process. I support the students through a number of means, from attending college open evening and information fayres, to arranging USW campus visits and one to one support and guidance.
(If you have a query with regards our franchised offer, or would like to book a talk for your students, get in touch using the contact details below).
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The most rewarding part of the job, for me, is being able to support someone to realise his or her potential. The availability of HE provision at local colleges makes obtaining a higher education qualification an achievable goal for anyone with a desire to learn, regardless of background. It is fantastic to see truly passionate people achieve things they thought were beyond their capabilities, and being able to support them during their journey is incredibly fulfilling.
also work as a member of the wider marketing and student recruitment team at
the university, working to support mainstream recruitment open days, interviews
and UCAS information fayres. I thoroughly enjoy meeting potential students and
supporting them in making the best decision for their future.
