Primary and Secondary Teaching school experience forms and guidance

All of our prospective teacher training students are required to complete observations prior to starting the course. This webpage provides all the information you need to know, including how many days observation are required and guidance to help you get the most from your pre-course school placement experience. You can also download the forms you need to complete and return before you start the course.


Primary Teaching

If you have applied to one of our Primary Teaching courses below, you are required to undertake 10 days observation in Primary schools prior to starting the course. You will need to complete 5 days observation in Foundation Phase (3-7 years), and 5 days in Key Stage 2 (7-11years).

Please complete one form for your Foundation Phase observations and a separate form for your Key Stage 2 observations.

How to return your completed school experience form
Please bring your completed Primary school experience forms with you to your first teaching session.

Secondary Teaching


If you have applied to one of our Secondary Teaching courses below, you are required to undertake 10 days observation, prior to starting the course. You will need to complete 5 days observation in a Primary school and 5 days in a Secondary school.* 
*Please note - Observations only need to be completed if this is stated in your conditional offer. Please check the communication you have received from our Enquiries and Admissions Department.

How to return your completed school experience form
Please return your completed Secondary school experience forms to the Enquiries & Admissions Department at the Pontypridd Campus, Treforest as soon as you have undertaken your observations.
