Alumni making their mark on the world of education are working in institutions including:
Dr Fiona Brookman (BSc (Hons) Behavioural Science (University of Glamorgan, 1994)) is Professor of Criminology and Deputy Director of the Centre for Criminology at the University of South Wales where she is engaged in teaching and research and overseeing the strategic development of the Centre for Criminology.
She was awarded her PhD in Criminology at Cardiff University in 2000 and gained the Postgraduate Diploma in Social Science Research Methods the previous year. Fiona’s PhD explored male perpetrated homicide in England and Wales. Her main research interests revolve around homicide and violence and she is currently preparing publications on homicide offender decision-making and homicide investigation – the latter based on her ethnogaphic research with homicide detectives in the UK and Washington DC. Most recently Fiona was awarded (with Professors Robin Williams and Jim Fraser) over £200,000 from the Leverhulme Trust to undertake a detailed study of the role of science and technology in homicide investigation.
