#USWthanksU: Building refurbishment boosts our family therapy provision

Philippa Seligman Suite

A refurbishment programme to transform counselling and observation rooms within our Family Institute was made possible towards the end of 2014 through the generosity of Dr Philippa Seligman and David Seligman OBE. The University was able to open the ‘Philippa Seligman Suite’ - a series of fully refurbished spaces in which the University is able to continue to offer independent psychotherapy services, counselling and family therapy services to the public.

Named in memory of the late distinguished psychotherapist and lifelong friend of the Institute, the ‘Philippa Seligman Suite’ underpins the sustainability and reputation of the Family Institute and their hugely important therapy services.

David Seligman comments: “Many of those with connections to the Family Institute knew Philippa as a family therapist in her professional capacity, both as colleagues and as clients, and we were delighted to be able to help in the refurbishment of the suite.”

Jeff Faris, Senior Lecturer in Psychotherapy adds: “The magnitude of Philippa’s work can still be felt and appreciated by many in the profession. Her contribution assures her place on the map of the family therapy world, and we feel proud to have known her.”
