USW students are in with a chance of winning a £1000 prize to help promote the arts, science and technology in Wales.

Would you like to visit Australia to undertake an internship in Engineering? Or maybe travel to Honduras in Central America to conduct fieldwork for your MSc dissertation? These are just two examples of how USW students have successfully utilised the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales travel scholarship.

The scholarship is to enable the recipient to travel abroad and take on a project which will significantly help to further their career, and enhance and develop their talents. Candidates should be aged between 21 and 35, and will need to demonstrate that they were either born in Wales, live in Wales, were brought up here or work here, and therefore have a commitment to Wales. They should also present a proposal that demonstrates how they hope the scholarship will help to develop their future career.

Applicants should contact The Alumni Relations and Development Office for an application form.

The deadline for applications is the 23rd of March 2018

The applicants who write the best proposals, as judged by the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales whose decision is final, will be invited for interview at the Treforest Campus, Pontypridd during the second week of April.

The successful candidate will generally be expected to take the study trip during the third quarter of the year. It is a condition of the award that, on return, the recipient of the award submits a report/short presentation and, if possible photographs, by the end of September. Guidance on the content of the report will be provided, and the report will be retained in the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales’ archive. Award recipients are responsible for their own safety while undertaking the project.
