Qatar University’s 6th President, Dr Hassan Rashid Al-Derham is recognised for playing a major role in advancing research activity at both university and national levels. More.

Richard is currently CEO, American Association of Independent Music and is is credited with coining the term ‘New Romantic” which went on to be the defining musical genre of the 1980s. Born in Britain, but raised in New Zealand, University of Glamorgan alumnus Richard James Burgess is globally renowned for his contributions to the music industry spanning the last 40 years. Richard won the British Council's Education UK Alumni Award for Professional Achievement 2016. More.

The Right Honorable Alun Cairns is is a British Conservative Party politician, who became Secretary of State for Wales on 19 March 2016. Alun is a champion of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and is a frequent visitor to campus. More.

Emma is an author of fiction and creative non-fiction and is also great great granddaughter of Charles Darwin - an influencing factor that has shaped her life and writing over the years. More.

Asif Kapadia is an Academy Award, Grammy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker, storyteller, and director of the critically acclaimed documentary films Senna, Amy and Diego Maradona. More.

Marco is an multi award winning Hollywood animator currently working for Framestore in Los Angeles. His filmography boasts an impressive list including working for Sony supervising the animation on blockbusters such as I Am Legend and Ghost Rider along with the Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, DC Comics' Green Lantern and later directing the animation for the Walking With Dinosaurs movie. Marco was awarded the University's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017. More.

Dr Miti is a Republic of Zambia politician. Formerly Principal Private Secretary, Miti currently holds the role of Secretary to the Cabinet. 

Rupert is a former Wales international rugby player. He played for Welsh clubs Abertillery and Neath but is most associated with Llanelli Scarlets, who he captained. Since hanging up his boots, the former scrum half has worked on the commercial side of the game for the WRU and has spearheaded the game in North Wales. Rupert regularly features on TV and radio and, amongst other pursuits, is a patron of Tenovus Cancer Care.

Trudy Norris-Grey  was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the University in 2013 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to business. A champion of progressing women into STEM, she heads an organisation called WISE (Women into Science, Engineering & Technology) which works to encourage and inspire women and girls to gain and deploy STEM skills as pathways to exciting and fulfilling careers. Formerly MD (Worldwide Business Development), Microsoft, Trudy currently works for AXA. Anand Tummala is the Head Coach for the USA Cricket Under-19 team. Anand was formerly the USA Women’s Head Coach and USA Men’s Assistant Coach, and has most recently been coaching with the Delhi Under 23 side in India, where they finished as runners up in the BCCI Men’s Cricket Under 23 One Day League & Knockout Championship. Nigel Walker is a former international athlete and rugby union player. He represented Great Britain as a high hurdler before switching to rugby, earning 17 international caps for Wales. He has also served as a UK Sport board member from 2006-10, was Chair of the Major Events Panel and a member of the Audit Committee. Prior to his current role as National Director at the English Institute of Sport, Nigel was Head of Change and Internal Communications at BBC Wales. He was awarded an OBE in the 2019 Queens Birthday honours. Nigel was inducted into the University's Sport Hall of Fame in 2017.

Leanne Wood is a Welsh politician who served as the leader of Plaid Cymru from March 2012 to September 2018, and has served as Member of the National Assembly for Rhondda since 2016. She is a champion for equality and in 2017 was awarded the Univesity's Alumni Award for Contribution to Welsh Life and Culture. More.
