Treforest and Cardiff

BCUR 2019 will be held at the Treforest campus of the University of South Wales.

USW Treforest is surrounded by green open spaces. Our students say they love the warm and friendly welcome and community atmosphere, as well as the convenience of living and studying in the same place.

From listed buildings to new, modern structures, Treforest reflects the University’s history and its ambitions. Here you will find everything you need in one place - halls of residence, the library and sport centre, cafes and bars to eat and drink, and friends to spend time with.

Find out more information about USW Treforest, including travel directions and a map of the Treforest campus here.

If you are a BCUR delegate who will be staying overnight, it is very likely you will choose to stay in the city of Cardiff and make the short journey to Treforest.

The national capital of Wales, the city of Cardiff has played host to major cultural, political and sporting events, including the Rugby World Cup and the FA Cup Final. It is therefore well equipped with a range of hotels, from the major national and international chains boutique hotels, guest houses and a host of other sources of accommodatio

Visit Wales, the official tourist site for Wales, is your best bet for sourcing accommodation. Aside from the hotels and guests houses listed, you could also look for some keenly priced accommodation in one of the main properties listed in Airbnb.

If you are staying in Cardiff city centre, you will be able to make your way to Treforest from one of three train stations: Cardiff Central, Cardiff Queen’s Street and Cardiff Cathays (the latter is located just a few minutes’ walk from the National Museum of Wales, where the conference dinner will be held on 15th April). The city centre has an excellent range of reliable major chains including Premier Inn, Novotel, Jury’s, Hilton, Radisson Blu, Marriott, Holiday Inn and Ibis among others and all of which are within walking distance of one of the Cardiff train stations. In the same area, you might also look at the Angel Hotel, directly facing Cardiff Castle.

If you have your own transport, you might also look at hotels in Cardiff Bay or on the outskirts of the city. In Cardiff Bay, you will find Future Inns and Holiday Inn conveniently located close by the main road leading to the M4 and the connecting road to Treforest. There is also, with over 300 beds, the excellent Cardiff Youth Hostel. Close by you, will also find a very convenient Premier Inn Cardiff City South in East Moors. On the road to Treforest from Cardiff, there is a very good Village Hotel at Coryton.
