There are over 5000 registered charities operating in Wales, with over 1000 of these situated within the surrounding areas of USW campuses. 

The majority of charitable organisations in Wales run as micro-charities, meaning their income is less than £10,000 and they often lack resources to facilitate sustainable positive change in their communities.

This is certainly the case for many of the charities on our doorstep and, as part of our Civic Mission, USW is helping to remove some of the barriers hindering local organisations from creating a positive impact. 

Events and activities are an effective way for organisations to shout about a cause and share their message with the wider community. To help charities facilitate these, we have developed the Community Space Usage Voucher!

What is the Community Space Usage Voucher?

The Community Space Usage Voucher is a funding scheme designed for charities, non-profit and non-governmental organisations and social enterprises who are looking to hire a space at a USW campus for an event intended to have a positive impact on the community.

The purpose of the Community Space Usage Voucher is to deduct up to £500 from the cost of hiring a room in order to help organisations overcome the financial strain of putting on an event and to share our amazing facilities with the wider community. In some instances, this might offer a significant reduction on the final invoice for room-hire, in others it may cover the full cost of space usage, depending on the chosen venue to fit the needs of the event.
