When life turned upside down, education lit the way forward.
After failing A-levels, university seemed out of reach. Then came something no one could have prepared for: a family caught in the crosshairs of political violence. When the Taliban discovered Hamed’s mother was advocating for women’s rights in local schools, it became dangerous to stay in Afghanistan. What followed was an 18-month escape across countries—filled with fear, uncertainty, and hope.
