Award Winning Campaign: Visualising Hearing Loss

Graduates from University of South Wales’s BA (Hons) Graphic Communication course have won a national award for their campaign designed to raise awareness for charity Action on Hearing Loss.

Rojal Myers, Angharad Stone and Aurelioano Tommy Colombo were tasked to visualise hearing loss as part of the YCN Student Awards, a national competition which celebrates emerging talent from students and graduates in the world of design and communications.

Rojal explains “After a considerable amount of research, we came to the conclusion that you couldn’t visualise it, but more let people experience what it could potentially be like being deaf. We felt a video experience would be the best solution for the problem whilst incorporating what people deaf people have to do to understand people (lip reading, eye contact and facial expression).”
