Media student Michael Gearon graduated with first class honours. He is now studying the MA Graphic Communication and working freelance.

"The strength of this course was that it covered pretty much every aspect of the media, from web design and development to graphics for print and digital devices and video and audio production.

I enjoyed the constant challenge of delivering industry quality results and supporting research. The first year provided a good introduction to the media industry and the second year concentrated on expanding these skills and learning advanced subjects, such as how to use 3DS Max. We even had strong guidance on how to present ourselves in the industry with expert tips and tricks.

In year two, a great company in Cardiff Bay, CELF Creative gave me a placement working with the graphic design team to develop websites using WordPress.

For the independent study module in the third year, I studied iBeacons and User Experience (UX). I produced an IOS application that worked with Estimote beacons as well as a five thousand word research document into the subject.

Other projects involved working with a group of students to develop a product which could become a business in one year and formulate a three year business plan. Also we were asked to create a brand identity from scratch. After creating the initial identity, we produced a radio and video advert to showcase the product."
