“I chose USW because it was welcoming, gave me the chance to play and make mistakes, and most importantly it is a fun place to be."

I currently work as an Assistant Producer at BBC Studios Documentary Unit, a role I never really planned on doing. During my time in university, I always wanted to work in drama, however, when I graduated, I opened my eyes up to what else was on offer and found the world of unscripted TV.

Luckily during my time in university, I would set up filming days, I would talk to many different people, and I would play around with as many different items of kit as I could. Without realising this prepared me for what I do now as lot of my time is spent setting up shoots, sourcing and clearing archive, interviewing people, and finding stories.

BA (Hons) Media Production at USW is full of many different opportunities so take on as many as you can as you never know where it may lead. Keep an open mind about what your end goal is, try everything and don’t be afraid to make mistakes.”
