Great course if you're serious about a career in football

Adam Walton, Football Coaching and Performance student

Adam Walton is studying Football Coaching and Performance at USW. He is also the Analyst for the University Football First team.

"Football has always been my main sport. I saw this course on the UCAS website and applied straight away.

It’s been a great decision. Being able to learn from so many fantastic lecturers has helped me academically and from a career point of view. The lecturers have so much industry experience, they can help you progress in every way.

The most enjoyable part of being at University has been watching myself develop. I’ve also enjoyed creating relationships with so many people, inside the University and out, who share my passion for football.

Thanks to the course, I got the job of Analyst with the University Football First team. So many brilliant opportunities have come with this, such as going away with the Welsh Universities team and being crowned BUCS National Champions in 2015/16.

I’m also developing experience and professional skills in the area I eventually want to work. For instance, coding games and producing highlights videos and stats reports. I love being involved in a professional set up and working with semi-professional footballers. It’s really rewarding that my work is appreciated and helps the team develop and succeed.

I would recommend the Football Coaching and Performance course to anyone with a passion for football who wants to learn and test themselves in a professional environment. If you’re serious about a career in football then USW is definitely a good stepping-stone for achieving your aims."
