Rianis Dickson graduated with the BSc (Hons) Mathematics and is now starting her new job as an Associate Patent Examiner for the Intellectual Property Office. Rianis is looking forward to having the opportunity to combine her analytical ability with new technical and legal knowledge.

"The best thing about studying at the University of South Wales was that during my second year, I took the opportunity to visit Uganda on a charity trip with the Mathematics department. This was an amazing experience that I will never forget and something that I would not have been able to take part in if I hadn't gone to the University of South Wales.

"My favourite part of the course was the wide range of modules available. It meant that we could tailor our degree to the areas of mathematics we were interested in, for example: Finance, Mathematical Biology, or Statistics.

"The support provided in the mathematics department was outstanding. The lecturers were always happy to give extra help with work set in tutorials. In our first year, we were put into groups of four, each being assigned to a tutor, this really helped in making sure everyone received the help they needed. Each year of the degree also has a pastoral tutor so that if anyone has any issues outside of learning there is someone they know that they can talk to.

"My experience at the University has been great. As well as leaving with a good degree I have learnt skills that have helped me find employment straight after graduating."
