BSc (Hons) Psychology graduate Louis Gittins is a Tenancy Management Officer.
I chose psychology as the study of mind and behaviour really intrigued me. As I hadn't completed sixth form I was required to complete a year’s study in order to gain access to a degree. The foundation degree offered that as well as preparing me for university studies.
My favourite parts of the course were the experiments. Putting theories into practice and discovering the outcomes for yourself is really exciting especially when in groups with class mates.
The highlight of the course for me was gaining the Best Final Year Student Award by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
To gain recognition from my lecturers and the BPS was amazing.
The course helped me gain extensive knowledge of psychology and its benefits in the working world. I also acquired placements whilst studying which, combined with my degree, helped me to begin my career within months of graduating.
My role involves dealing with anti-social behaviour issues and breaches of the tenancy agreement. This can include property condition and noise right through to violence and drug cultivation. Every day is different which helps to keep my job exciting.
