My part-time Quantity Surveying degree

Vicky Greenfield completed her Quantity Surveying degree at the University after entering the construction services working for Balfour Beatty PLC, the world's infrastructure business in construction.

Based in Newport, working on an infrastructure project with Network Rail, Vicky decided to upgrade her existing qualification and study the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management course part-time. The part-time option provided Vicky with an ideal opportunity to enhance her knowledge, skills and career prospects without having to drop any work commitments.

As a part-time surveying student Vicky always felt that the support she received during her studies enabled her to balance her commitments and still be successful. Vicky comments, “After taking a break from my studies in 2010, I decided to complete my final year at the University of South Wales. I found the lecturers extremely helpful – they always provided feedback and advice where they could, and gave me the confidence I needed to complete my projects.

“I have no doubt that this was the best decision I could have made. My grades improved significantly due to the support received from the lecturers and how helpful and approachable they were.”

The support and investment paid off as Vicky recently graduated with a first-class honours degree and now looks forward to using her qualification to enhance her future career prospects.
