Jevon is now Elite Men’s Rugby coach for Hong Kong Sports Institute

Jevon Groves is the Elite Men’s Rugby Sevens coach for the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
A former rugby union player, Jevon played for Cardiff RFC, Glamorgan Wanderers RFC, Cross Keys RFC and Newport Gwent Dragons before studying for his BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science and MSc Sports Coaching at USW.
"I wanted to do the Sport and Exercise Science course as I always had in the back of my mind that when I finished professional rugby, I could go into coaching - this course gave me the theoretical knowledge to do just that.
It gave me a good knowledge of the coaching process and taught me different methods of how to transfer that knowledge to the players in the most effective manner.
I would recommend the course to anyone that wants to go into elite coaching as it gives the practical and theoretical knowledge of delivering in those environments.
The business of coaching rugby is so competitive, so having a undergraduate and postgraduate degree in sport and coaching from USW was an important factor in getting my current job.
About my job
I coach the the men’s rugby team in the technical and tactical aspects of sevens rugby.
The best aspect of my job is learning from other players and coaches from different cultural backgrounds
I love being a coach. It’s made the transition from playing professional rugby a lot easier and I’ve got to work with some really good players and some really good coaches."
