Sports coaching degree taught me so much that has contributed to my success
Nicky Holland is an award-winning personal trainer in Dubai and CEO of Nicky Fitness.
A former professional footballer, Nicky has played for Swansea City and many times in the Welsh Premier League, appearing in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.
"I studied USW's degree in Sports Coaching and Performance while at Swansea City. I took modules in Strength and Conditioning, Sport Psychology and Contemporary Issues in Sport and Coaching all of which have helped me carve out a successful career in the fitness industry.
"Going to the University of South Wales was a really valuable experience for me. It taught me to understand different cultures, which inspired me to move to Dubai, where I have challenged myself and grown as a person.
"Dubai is one of the best cities in the world and I love what I do.
"As a result, I have been nominated as Personal Trainer of the Year at the Fit Awards for the last two years running, I write for fitness magazines, have created my own fitness courses and I’m an ambassador for Adidas in the Middle East.
"My sports coaching degree taught me so much that has contributed to my success - such as having the confidence to teach and speak to large groups of people; understanding sport from different perspectives; being happy in your job and finally, being the best that you can be.
"I would recommend this sports coaching course for anyone passionate about sport as it opens up many opportunities."
