Marcel Stiujts is a student on the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) course.
“I’m CEO of Bizob, a public sector agency for procurement based in the Netherlands. My research project focusses on collaborative public sector procurement, something which is in its infancy in the Netherlands. Because of it’s success over here, collaboration has become unstructured and ineffective. My project looks at developing a less fragmented way of working.
The UK is far more advanced in this area and there’s a wealth of business knowledge within the University of South Wales, which is why I chose to study at USW.
The academics at USW are very knowledgeable and supportive. I’ve learnt a huge amount that I can take back to my business to ensure I’m one step ahead as the area grows in the Netherlands.
The DBA is an ideal course for managers looking to specialise in a particular area. We have sessions in three day blocks, about every six months Thursday – Saturday, a structure which means minimal disruption to my business. I’m able to fly in to Cardiff Airport from the Netherlands which is very convenient.
I can then do most of my research from home, keeping in touch with the tutors via email and Skype. The tutors are very helpful and support and always come back to you quickly."
