Professor Hefin Rowlands
Hefin Rowlands, Module Leader for The Theoretical and Practical Context for Doctoral Research, is Professor of Quality Management. His research interests include strategic quality management in the value chain, zero defect strategies, quality improvement and quality in the supply chain. To date he has supervised 13 PhD students to successful completion. Hefin is a reviewer for a number of international journals and is an editorial board member of the TQM Journal. He is currently a nominated regional expert for the EU FoFAM Project (Factory of the Future in Additive Manufacturing) and has been an expert evaluator and rapporteur for the EU Research Executive Agency.
Dr Simon Thomas
Dr Simon Thomas is the Module Leader for Analysing, Interpreting and Reflecting on Findings (alongside Dr Rami Djebarni) and a Senior Lecturer in Tourism, Events & Enterprise. Prior to commencing a career in academia, he worked ten years in visitor services for the Welsh Assembly Government Agency Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments. Simon’s research interests include heritage representation, identity, interpretation and meaning. His current research focus is on the construction of meaning at hybrid touristic pilgrimage sites in western Europe, concentrating on Lourdes in south west France.
