Francesca is now studying adult nursing

Francesca Matthews did the Foundation Degree in Community Health and Wellbeing as a route into studying nursing.

"I applied to study the Foundation Degree in Community Health and Wellbeing as I had been unsuccessful in my first application for Nursing. I didn't want to take a year out from education as I found returning to study after ten years quite challenging and I didn't want to take my foot off the pedal, so to speak!

This course put me in exactly the right place to become successful this year. I now have experience at studying at a higher level of education as well as practical experience, this is something I lacked last year.

Knowledge and guidance from tutors proved invaluable. They arranged a meeting with the Admissions Tutor for Nursing which helped me hugely with my application this year.

I am thrilled to say I have been offered a place to study adult nursing.

Furthermore I have gained employment within the NHS and taken part in research study with Public Health Wales. Without enrolling on this course I don't think I would be able to say that.

The course is hard work,  but offers an alternative route to nursing or midwifery. For those who aren't sure where they want to work in healthcare, it offers the chance to find out about all areas, as well as be taught by inspiring lecturers from various health care settings and gain practical experience, all of which is imperative in today's tough employment market."
