"I taught for 18 years and took middle management responsibility for literacy and numeracy across the curriculum, working closely with the Basic Skills Agency and Welsh Government. I was particularly interested in the importance of oracy in education and active learning techniques.
I took up a secondment opportunity to become the 14-19 Officer within a local authority, working closely with headteachers and curriculum leaders in the design and implementation of an appropriate curriculum for the 21st century and leading on collaborative working between partners in schools, FE College, Work-Based Learning and Third Sector organisations.
I have recently taken up the position as a part-time Senior Lecturer in the MA programmes for the University and I am excited about getting back to a teaching role. I combine this with my role as a senior manager in a local authority.
Having responsibility for school improvement across all sectors, I work closely with the regional consortia colleagues. I love having the ability to combine the two complementary roles – combining the theory with the practice; combining the challenge with support and development.
I am delighted to be involved in developing people in organisations and look forward to developing opportunities for more multi-agency working and for promoting the opportunity for students to reflect on their own practice."
