The Bio-medical Aspects of Human Performance module will look at more common injuries and movement dysfunctions encountered in sport and enable students to identify risk factors for these injuries, design programs of exercise that reduce the risk of injury, and programs that enable athletes who have suffered these injuries recover full function.

Injury is an unfortunate, but often inevitable aspect of high level sport. Whilst the strength and conditioning coach will not be involved in the acute treatment of any injury, they play a potentially critical role in reducing the risk of injury, and in the final stages of the rehabilitation process whereby athletes are progressively returned to optimal physical function.

These prehab and rehab functions require working knowledge of the factors that potentially affect injury and on measures that can be taken to reduce this risk and to address deficiencies in athletes that predispose them to injury.
