Engage with conservation and environmental employers

Engineering Research student in SERC

As part of your major project, there is the opportunity to engage with conservation and environmental employers.

To give you an idea of who we work with, and the kind of project our students undertake, here are some examples of organisations that have assisted our students in areas that reflect the research issues in their respective field:

  • National Museum of Wales, Cardiff: Investigating changes in Cardiff’s hedgerows
  • Museum of Welsh Life, St.Fagans: using sonograms to study bat species and their feeding sites around the museum
  • Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales: An assessment of the lizard and slow worm habitat suitability at the Cwm Colhuw Nature Reserve
  • Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales: An assessment of the invasive plant species at Parc Slip and Aberaman Nature Reserves with the aim of identifying suitable management strategies for their control.
  • Countryside Council of Wales and Commons Vision Limited: Plant invasive alien species at Parc Slip and Pwll Waun Cynon Reserves: Habitat mapping and management
  • NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) GIS data provision: Preliminary Investigation into the Louisiana coastal wetlands following the BP oil spill of April 2010
