Lakshan is a lecturer in aircraft maintenance engineering at the University of South Wales Dubai. With a HND and BEng (Hons) in aerospace engineering and an MSc in mechanical engineering under his wing, Lakshan later moved on to work at Emirates airlines where he gained hands-on experience working in the aircraft maintenance engineering field for 7 years. While at Emirates Lakshan completed training on a A319 general familiarisation course to help him qualify and move in to teaching.
Aviation was always a passion of his and knew since he was a child he wanted to work in aircraft maintenance engineering. It was while working at Emirates, Lakshan decided he wanted to pass on his knowledge and experience of working in the sector to future engineers which is why he moved in to teaching.
Lakshan will be teaching on the BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and the BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Including Foundation Year) courses, particularly on the modules aerospace materials and hardware, aircraft maintenance practices, aviation maintenance legislation, and aviation maintenance resource and planning management.
Fun fact: Lakshan is a keen traveler and photography enthusiast, he has visited many countries and enjoys exploring new places while taking photographs of the surrounding nature.
