USW WelcomeFest
Calling all NEW students starting in September! You're invited to join us for USW WelcomeFest 2023.
Taking place at our Treforest, Newport and Cardiff campuses, the festival boasts live music, a host of entertainment, free Street-food, and refreshments! There will also be a Games Zone, a local traders’ market and information stalls for all of the things you need to know about USW.
Remember, you need to book your free ticket in advance of the event to gain access to your free food vouchers. Food stalls will include pizzas, burgers, toasties, Shawarma, and ice cream!
There are a limited number of tickets available so book soon, plus if you can no longer attend, please log in to Eventbrite to cancel your ticket, so someone else can access your place.

What to expect at USW WelcomeFest 2023:
Free food
A variety of Street Food will be available at each campus:
- Pontypridd (Treforest Campus) - On the patio in front of Fitzone
- Newport - Outside back of campus, accessible via Dance Studio – A17.
- Cardiff - Outside back of campus.
Main Stage Entertainment
There’s a variety of entertainment on our main stage at each campus WelcomeFest including:
- DJ set
- Local bands and performers
- Urban Circle dance taster
- Fitness challenges
For exact times for each set, ask at the WelcomeFest registration desk.
Information stalls
These stalls include USW departments that can support you, Charities looking for volunteers, local businesses and organisations offering their products and services and much more!
- Pontypridd (Treforest Campus) - Inside Fitzone – Treforest Sports Centre
- Newport - Ground Floor of Campus and Dance Studio – A17
- Cardiff - Ground Floor of Campus
Wellbeing Zone
At each campus, there will be a dedicated quiet space to meet our Wellbeing Team for the following sessions. To book onto the craft workshop, please ask at the WelcomeFest registration desk on the day.
- Chance to chat - 11:30am until 12:30pm
- Chance to chat - 12:30pm until 1:30pm
- Craft session (tote bag) - 2pm until 3:30pm
