What do you think about the course you are studying?

I believe it is the course that suits me best. It offers a wide range of theoretical knowledge and helps you gain practical skills about children’s psychology and education. The structure of the course encourages students to research many topics throughout their studies, which, in my opinion, is the best way to learn.

Why did you choose this subject?

I picked this subject because I love working with children. The course combines psychology with education and it gives me the opportunity to learn about children holistically.

How do you think the skills and knowledge you have gained on your course will help you get a job after graduation?

Studying Early Years Development and Education means that you learn about children’s psychology and ways to educate a child from birth up to 11 years old, which is a huge field with a variety possible careers. Additionally, the course offers two placements in the 2nd and 3rd year, an advantage especially for students that have never worked with children before. Students are also required to work with children so as to complete a lot of their assignments, such as analysing children’s drawings and child observations. After graduation I will be already experienced and well qualified to get a job.

Has your learning experience at South Wales been positive?

During the first year of my studies my tutors were very helpful. Our communication and their support have been beneficial to adjust myself to a different way of studying. The Learning Resources Centre has always been accessible to me and offers unlimited sources of study.

Tell us about where you live?

For my first year in university I decided to live off-campus in a student house because I would be staying in Wales for at least 3 years and I believed it was a better way to adjust to the country. Also, I picked Cardiff instead of Treforest as it offers more opportunities to young people for entertainment and leisure time.
