Everything you need to know
As a self-funding international student from Myanmar, you are eligible for a scholarship of:
- £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
- £2,500 per year for postgraduate students
This applies for courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.
English Qualifications
Proficiency in English is essential for undergraduate and postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:
- GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
- IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component.
Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.
Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.
Academic Qualifications
- Students studying A Levels or the International Baccalaureate will be accepted subject to meeting the University’s standard entry requirements as specified for each course.
- Holders of BTEC validated diplomas from Institut Teknologi Brunei and other local colleges will be considered for direct entry to Bachelor Degree courses.

- Applicants with an undergraduate (Bachelor) degree that is equivalent to a UK Upper Second Class degree (also known as a 2:1) will be considered for postgraduate programmes. Note that this does not include degrees from universities in Myanmar.
- Applicants holding a Masters degree from Myanmar will be considered for postgraduate programmes.
- Students who hold a bachelor’s degree from Myanmar which has been studied for 5 or more years may be considered for relevant USW Masters programme.
