A Business student at the University of South Wales has secured a much sought-after work placement with a major communications company in China.
Edward Clark, known as Ed, who is studying the BA (Hons) Business Management degree, will be working at Skywise, a company dedicated to promoting SME trade and investment between Europe and China.
As part of the placement, Ed will carry out market research and sales work with Skywise, which provides professional business communication and travel services to businessmen and women in China and the UK.
Ed has previously completed a one-year placement with Innovative Technologies in Manchester, where he worked on a project to reduce the overall spend on plastics. While he was there the company sent him to visit their partners and facilities in the South of China.
“It was an incredible experience, which led to a summer placement in the centre of Beijing,” said Ed.
“One of my major interests is marketing communications, in particular digital and social media marketing, and I was able to use this as the main focus of a recruitment project, where I created a social media strategy to attract graduates to the company.
“I was also given a lot of responsibility in marketing a fledgling company they had set up. There was a fair bit of pressure, but it was very rewarding. I am looking forward to seeing the results of my work over the coming months!”
Ed chose the option of a placement so that he could leave university with valuable work experience to take forward into his career, and it was a major factor in his decision to study at USW.
