National music therapy exhibition comes to USW

Music Therapy exhibition

The University will host an exciting public lecture in March, as part of a national music therapy exhibition which is coming to Newport this month.

The free lecture, which will be delivered by Dr Philippa Derrington of Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, will explore the use of music therapy among adolescents who are at risk of underachieving or exclusion.

Dr Derrington will talk about music therapy work in secondary schools, and the role of music therapy in shaping emotional wellbeing and reducing disruptive behaviour.

The lecture is being hosted by USW’s MA course in Music Therapy, as well as a national exhibition from the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT), which will be on display at City Campus, Newport from 25th February until 24th April. The exhibition was previously shown at The Barbican Centre in London.

Refreshments will be available after the lecture and there will be a chance to view the exhibition from 8pm to 9pm.

The lecture will take place at City Campus, Newport on Thursday 5th March from 7pm to 8pm. To book your free place, email
