Ray Davies opens History Society's Pride movie night

On March 12, USW History students held a special screening of the 2014 BAFTA award-winning film Pride, in which London-based gays and lesbians lend their support to striking coal miners in 1984 Wales.

The event was opened by the former miner and campaigner Ray Davies, who helped set up Rhymney Valley Miners Support group during the 1984/5 strike and was recently awarded a Wales Labour Party Merit Award.
