A Fashion graduate from the University of South Wales has launched a pop-up shop of his own designs at Topshop in Cardiff.
Charlie Shelley, 23, from St Mellons, graduated in Fashion Marketing & Retail Design in July, and his very own brand, Array, is now on sale at the city centre store.
The collection features four pieces from his womenswear brand, which will be available in store until Saturday 9 September.
The pop-up is
the first in a series of concessions to be sold at the Cardiff Topshop store
throughout the autumn / winter season, as part of the company’s commitment to
supporting new talent in the city.
Charlie’s brand is inspired by Greek mythological figures Venus and David, to represent female empowerment and masculinity.
He created Array as part of his final year project, which was chosen by Topshop to be featured in store.
“This opportunity has been amazing,” said Charlie.
“To have graduated so recently from a course that I loved, and to have the chance to sell my designs in such a well-known high street chain, has been fantastic.”
Topshop brand manager Sara Moore added: “We already work closely with the University of South Wales and have built up a great partnership. This project felt like the natural next step in helping create a platform for so many talented design students in Cardiff.”
Sarah Lees, lecturer for Fashion Marketing &
Retail Design at USW, added: “Charlie has secured this brilliant opportunity
thanks to his wide range of retail skills gained on the course, and his hard
work and commitment over the past three years.
“We are extremely proud of him and his achievements. His creation of the Array brand identifies with the Topshop’s target customer, and is a great example of the entrepreneurial aspect that we encourage.”
Charlie’s pop-up is available in the Cardiff Topshop store until Saturday 9 September, and will be followed by a collection from fellow graduate Trish Ramon.
