Queen’s Anniversary Prize honour for USW professor

Professor Jonathan Deacon

A University of South Wales (USW) academic has been asked to join the panel which judges the highest form of national recognition open to a UK academic or vocational institution

Professor Jonathan Deacon, who teaches marketing in USW’s Faculty of Business and Society, is to become a member of the Royal Anniversary Trust’s National Readers Panel, which assesses contributions for the Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education.

The prizes recognise and celebrate outstanding innovative work within UK higher and further education institutions and its beneficial and practical effect.

The winning entries represent work by individual departments and research groups, major infrastructure and enterprise projects, vocational and technical training programmes and the application of cutting-edge research.

“I think in many ways this is a reflection on the innovations we have made here at USW – especially in the way in which we engage with business through enterprise projects and applied research,” said Prof Deacon.

“So I am humbled to have been asked to serve in this way and look forward to reading the entries.”
