Providing opportunities for graduates
The University of South Wales (USW) is part of Venture Graduate, run by the Cardiff Capital Region (CCR).
Having taken over from the CCR Graduate Scheme, the programme is designed to provide a streamlined approach to delivering relevant opportunities for graduates.
The initiative now offers a cohort model which will be running three intakes per year, a talent pool of graduates ready to be appointed, enhanced recruitment expertise, improved shortlisting and recruitment techniques with the use of video applications and online assessment centres, structured approach to business engagement, and recruitment support at application and interview stage to save time and resources.
This will be in addition to advice and support in creating graduate job descriptions, fully-funded qualification for the graduates, marketing opportunities for businesses involved in the scheme, and networking and mentoring opportunities delivered in partnership with Global Welsh.
All graduate positions are delivered in partnership with the four universities in the CCR, which include USW, Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, and The Open University in Wales.
The partnership with Venture Graduate is just one of the support services on offer to USW alumni.
The Graduate Careers Support team, Springboard +Plus (as part of USW Careers) provides a range of graduate support, including 1-2-1 career coaching, fully funded placements, online resources, exclusive employer events, and skills sessions and masterclasses. All recent graduates can benefit from this enhanced careers support.
Lloyd Williams, Employability Development Manager at USW, said: “Having been involved in the scheme from the outset to support the link to the universities in the region, it has been great to see so many graduates - including a decent number from USW - benefiting from these internships and making their first career steps with local graduate employers”
