The University of South Wales (USW) has risen 11 places in the Complete University Guide 2022.

USW is now 91st in the table, up from 102nd, and had the second highest rise of universities in Wales this year.

Our student satisfaction is now ranked as the 35th highest in the UK.

Some of our highest-ranking subjects in this year’s table include Complementary Medicine (4th - down one), Health Studies (9th - a new entry), Childhood and Youth (13th - a new entry), Social Policy (27th - down one), and Tourism, Transport, Travel and Heritage Studies (29th - up 12).

Both Health Studies and Childhood and Youth ranked top in Wales for student satisfaction, and Complementary Medicine ranked top in Wales for graduate prospects.

A number of other subject areas saw improvements in their rankings including Law (climbing 26 places to 52nd), Social Work (climbing 25 places to 32nd), Sociology (climbing 25 places to 64th), Sports Science (climbing 13 places to 51st), Art and Design (climbing 11 places to 42nd) and Music (also climbing 11 places to 49th).

Professor Martin Steggall, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Research and Student Experience, said: “It is pleasing to see that USW has risen again in this year’s Complete University Guide, reflecting the increases we saw in the Times Good University Guide and the Guardian University Guide rankings last year.

“We are continually working to ensure that our students receive a high standard of education and a high standard of student experience during their time at USW, and this is something that all colleagues have continued to focus on during the pandemic as well.

“There are still areas of course in which we can improve and that is what we will continue to work on, to build on the successes that we have seen so far.”
