Global Entrepreneurship Week - Leading the way on graduate entrepreneurship
At the start of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Dr Louise
Bright, USW’s Director of Research and Business Engagement, explains how we
support individuals to start their own businesses.
We will be sharing inspiring stories on social media this week to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week, using the hashtag #GEW2022.
For the past two years, the University of South Wales (USW)
has been the leader among Higher Education institutions in Wales for developing
Entrepreneurship is a thread which runs through everything we do at USW, and supports our vision to change lives and our world for the better. One of the key ways we do this is by supporting our graduates to reach their career aspirations. For some, this means taking the leap and starting their own business.
As well as fulfilling their own goals, supporting our graduate start-ups is important for so many other reasons as it helps drive innovation and economic growth in our region and inspires others to give it a go.
At USW we are committed to helping our graduates start their own businesses and we offer a plethora of support from a very experienced and talented team. This includes one-to-one support, opportunities to network with like-minded individuals, mentorship, and access to our dedicated incubation spaces via our Startup Stwdio model.
It is this comprehensive suite of support that has enabled us to have inspired the most graduate start-ups of any Welsh university for the past two years – a position of which we are very proud.
These impressive results feed into our Higher Education Business and Community Interaction (HEBCI) Survey, which in turn informs our funding so that we can continue to invest in this support and build on the results we have already achieved.
We are very proud of all of our graduates who have started their own businesses, and will continue to support them as they develop future enterprises.
I am therefore delighted to encourage you to take a look at the wide range of events USW has brought together for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022 by visiting Global Entrepreneurship Week | University of South Wales
